The SKC Board, Staff and Leadership wish you well and hope that you are safe and remain healthy. This note is a brief update following recent decisions by the Governors of Kansas and Missouri to extend their stay at home orders. As you may know, both Governors have extended these orders through Sunday May 3rd. Jackson County has extended their stay at home orders until May 15th.
SKC will continue to observe these orders and will reassess the safety of returning to our physical office space only when the official state and local orders have been rescinded by the appropriate authorities. Consequently, we will continue to operate from our home offices and can be reached through our direct phone numbers should you need any assistance from SKC.
The Board, Staff and Leadership at SKC will continue to provide the key services you need to support your operations. However we may be of assistance, including seeking new loans through the SBA when the next round of PPP funds become available, or seeking out new funders or donors, or creating a new budget given the dramatic changes due to COVID-19, please reach out.
Mindfulness App by Wisdom Labs
During this stressful time, it is important that we take care of ourselves and each other. Wisdom Labs, in partnership with the Kauffman Foundation, is offering free access to its Mindfulness app for 90-days. This app can be used individually or as an entire organization; it can be used by teams or pairs within your organization.
From their website, “Wisdom Labs believes business is a force for social change and it starts with our behaviors at work. More mindfulness, compassion, awareness, and resilience in the workplace will lead to more thoughtful decisions, better relationships, more meaning, and unlocking of unique human potential—and these are the types of changes that ripple out to improve people’s lives and the planet in general. Wisdom Labs’ tools and programs are designed to promote individual and group behavior change in a scalable way—helping organizations improve performance, employee engagement, and stress resilience, while reducing unemployment and healthcare costs.”
SKC has been invited to share Wisdom Labs resources with the organizations we partner with. We are using their resources at SKC and encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. To provide your staff with free access to resources that may help them navigate the stress and uncertainty of the COVID-19 public health crisis please visit this link and sign up. There you will find resources and apps (Wise@Work app) to help with mental and emotional health and social wellbeing.
Forward the link above to others in your organization so they can take advantage of this opportunity as well. If you are uncertain how to introduce these resources in your organization there are helpful email templates on their website to make communication easier. There are no strings attached or expectations to continue after the 90-days.
SKC and our partners have worked shoulder to shoulder for the last 20 years through many challenging times and we will be here for you during the next 20 years. We are looking forward to the next time we can be together!
